I remember when I was younger my family would receive so many toy magazines in the mail. There would be Toys R Us, Fleet Farm, a discount one and more. I would go through all of them and think about how I wanted them all. Some of them I even recalled seeing on TV. If it looked fun on TV, I wanted it. I would find a pen and paper and write down my list of what I wanted to show my parents. This helped him to know what to look for when they went Christmas shopping. Often times I would some of what I wanted and other things I didn’t ask for as a surprise.
Was I spoiled as a child at Christmas? I think I was compared to now. Christmas was different when I was younger because life was different than it is now. Money went a lot further when I was a kid. I was able to get most of the things I wanted. As a teenager, my parents often had me work to buy the bigger items I wanted for myself.
At my current age of 30, I had no idea what to ask for this year. Once you aren’t a teenager anymore, Christmas doesn’t seem as important. I think it’s because I don’t expect anything out of the holiday anymore.
This year when I was asked what I wanted for Christmas, I didn’t know what to ask for. There is one big item I want that I can’t ask for because no one but myself could buy it. That is a new car. If my family was rich and could afford it, I would have asked for this. I was able to come up with a couple items to ask for. I don’t know if I will get them or not.
For my birthday a couple years ago, I asked for a bookshelf. I had help putting it together. I wanted it to put all of my books and trinkets on. It worked perfectly. Now that I have my own place, it doesn’t work for me as well. I still have it with me and have the items still in it but you can’t notice what is on it.
I asked for an open shelf where I can display my fairies, dragons and cats on in a place where they can be seen. Right now, they are all hidden in a corner. You have to be looking that way to notice them.

I asked for this because I love essential oils. My favorite scent is lavender. It’s relaxing, calming and helps me sleep. At the moment, I put some drops on my wrist or a cotton ball. This works okay but the scent doesn’t travel or last long. I did have one that used pads. It was cut and worked well but the pads didn’t last long and were costly to replace.
When I went to see my mom to pick up my Christmas advent calendar, she told me she got me one that used pads but got herself one that didn’t use pads. I told her the one without pads was what I preferred but I could try to make the one she got me work. She told me she will return it and get me the same one she got herself. That was nice and I’m glad I will be getting the one I wanted because I planned on using it a lot.
I like getting new clothes. When I was younger, I never liked opening clothes. All I wanted was toys. Now, I see how important having clothes are. The biggest are socks because they never last me for more than a couple wears. Many of the shirts I have are old band shirts I got from Hot Topic. My yoga pants are pretty worn too.
These are the only things I have asked for. I know my sisters got me different things than what I asked for. One of sisters I think got me a gift card and my other sister showed me she got me a lion king stuffed animal. Lion King is one of my favorite movies. I can’t wait to see the new version when it comes on TV.
What things did you ask for Christmas? Did you buy yourself what you wanted?
